Easter events set at Augsburg Lutheran

Immanuel Lutheran Augsburg Church will have an Easter sunrise service at 6 a.m. this Sunday, with breakfast to follow at 7 a.m. in the church's fellowship hall.
Also planned is an Easter egg hunt for children at 8 a.m. and a church service with Communion at 10 a.m.
An Easter egg coloring contest for all ages through high school is planned for this Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church.
The church is located at the intersection of 900 N and 1300 E on the St. Peter blacktop, four miles east of U.S. Route 51.

Youth meetings each month at Augsburg

A monthly youth group meeting will be held the second Friday of the month at 7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Augsburg Church.
The next one will be held on Friday, April 13.

Bankester Family to play at Liberty  

The Bankester Family will perform at Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown on April 15 at the 10 a.m. worship service and at a 6 p.m. concert.
The group plays bluegrass-style  music, performed with instruments such as the banjo, fiddle, violin and mandolin.

Sunrise service at St. James Lutheran

An Easter sunrise service will be held at 6:30 a.m. this Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia. A breakfast will follow in the multi-purpose room.

Special services set at First Methodist

First United Methodist Church of Vandalia will hold two extra services this week because of Easter.
The first is a Holy Thursday worship service at 7 p.m. this Thursday. It will include special music, a brief message and Communion.
The second special event is a sunrise worship service, led by the church's young people, at 7:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday.
The traditional Easter service will be held at the regular worship time of 9:30 a.m. The message will be "Crying at the Tomb."
 
Women's studies at First Christian   

First Christian Church of Brownstown will be offering a women's Bible study entitled "The Battlefield of the Mind," beginning next Thursday at 7 p.m. at the church.
Also being planned at church is a women's Bible study entitled "3D (Diet, Discipline and Discipleship), A New Beginning." It will begin on Sunday, April 15, at 6:15 p.m. at the church. The 3D study considers the whole person – physical, emotional and spiritual – as it encourages participants to eat right, live well and love God. Classes meet for one hour per week for 12 weeks.

Concert Saturday at Bethalto church  

A Southern gospel concert featuring "The Redemptions,
from Arnold, Mo., will be held this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bethalto Church of God.

Four-Mile Church services announced  

Four-Mile Christian Church, located on Ill. Route 185 south of Bluff City, is holding traditional Christian church services at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.
Those services will be preceded by Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.

Easter service set at Temple Baptist

Temple Baptist Church will hold a special Easter service on the topic of "The Cross" this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

'Family of One' concert is April 22

A group of local musicians will present a fund-raising concert on Sunday, April 22, at the Vandalia Junior High School gymnasium.
Tickets for the 2:30 p.m. "Family of One" concert are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. For tickets, contact the office at Holy Cross Lutheran Church between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., or call 283-1133.
Proceeds will go to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod World Mission.
Local musicians participating are: Rick Stanberry, Melody Freeman, Ed Taylor, Melanie Schaafsma, Doug Ricketts, Lisette Ehrat and Greg Starnes.

Rummage, bake sale at Holy Cross

Holy Cross Lutheran Church will hold a churchwide rummage sale and bake sale at the church on Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14.
The event will begin at 8 a.m. each day, and will close at 4 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
On Saturday, shoppers may fill one of the supplied bags for $2. Everything else that won't fit in the bag is half price.
