One Voice to perform Sunday in Cowden

The gospel singing group, One Voice, will be performing this  Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Cowden.
Formed in 2003, the trio has performed across the Midwest. They also have done tours in California, and have one planned for a five-state tour in the Southeast United States.

Alma church holding revival services

Greenridge Church in rural Alma is holding revival services this week, continuing through Sunday.
The Rev. Marlin Hotle will be the main speaker each evening at 7 p.m. Service time on Sunday is 4 p.m. Music will be provided by Jay and Amber Wisler.
The church is located eight miles east of Patoka High School on Kinoka Road, and then one mile south on Bilek Road.

FCC Ladies Christmas brunch is Dec. 10

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Vandalia will host a Ladies Christmas brunch on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 9:30 a.m.
Providing the music for the event will be Rayvan Gouch, the second-place contestant in the Vandalia Idol contest.

Monthly 'Women of Faith' study Tuesday

The "Sisters in Christ" women of Crown Point Church will meet next Tuesday at the church office for their monthly Bible study. The 5:30-6:30 p.m. study meets the first Tuesday of the month for Bible study and prayer.
The group is using the "Women of Faith" study guide series, which is entitled "Encouraging One Another."
The church office is located at 1402 N. Fifth Street, just south of the Tourism Information Center in Vandalia.

Holy Cross pastor to prepare chili dinner

The Rev. Chuck Johnson of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia will prepare chili for a chili dinner coming up at the church on Sunday, Dec. 11, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
All proceeds from the event will be matched by the Central Illinois Church Extension Fund.

First United Methodist to present cantata

A choral cantata titled "Hope is Born Emmanuel" will be presented on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia.
The program, a blend of traditional songs and less-familiar tunes, will be performed by members of the church choir, with assistance from singers from Greenville College and Kaskaskia College.
Lutheran churches combine on cantata

"Night of the Father's Love" is the title of a cantata that will be performed by the combined choirs of St. Peter, St. Paul and Augsburg Lutheran churches on Dec. 10 and 11.
The event will be performed three times: At 2 p.m. at Augsburg Lutheran Church on Saturday; at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Sunday; and at 6 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Sunday.
