St. James Lutheran to resume schedule

St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia will resume its regular worship schedule this Sunday. Services will be held at 10 a.m.
Because of the street construction in front of the church, worshipers are asked to park in the lot behind the church, which can be accessed from Eighth Street.

Free photos offered at Bethel Baptist

Bethel Baptist Church will be taking pictures for a church directory the week of Oct. 24-28. The public is invited to have pictures taken at the same time, though non-members' pictures will not be included in the directory. All photos will be taken at the church.
Community residents wanting to have their pictures taken will receive one 8-by-10 picture and a CD containing the digital images, from which additional prints may be made. There is no charge.
Community members wanting to participate must make an appointment by calling the church office (326-7451) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays.

Knights of Columbus 5K is Saturday

The Knights of Columbus of Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia will sponsor a 5K run/walk this Saturday.
The 8 a.m. event will start and finish at the church’s parish center at 705 W. St. Clair St. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and the entry fee is $20 per person.
Proceeds will benefit Cardinal Glennon Hospital.
The race course from the parish center is east on St. Clair to Sixth Street, north on Sixth Street to Jefferson Street, west on Jefferson Street to Rock Island Avenue, north on Rock Island Avenue to Fillmore Street, east on Fillmore Street to Sixth Street, south to St. Clair Street and west on St. Clair Street to the finish.

Catholic Women to meet on Nov. 3

The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Litchfield Deanery meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3, at St. Agnes Church in Hillsboro.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. During the Mass, the new deanery officers will be installed and a choral memorial service will be held for CCW members who have died during the past year.
Rebecca Kerkhoff, deanery president, has asked each parish to send or e-mail a list of CCW members who have died between Nov. 1, 2010, and Oct. 31, 2011. Her address is 627 S. Elm St., Vandalia, Ill. 62471 and her e-mail is rkerkhoff@yahoo.com.
A business meeting and luncheon will follow the Mass.
The Litchfield Deanery consists of Catholic parishes in Macoupin, Montgomery, Christian and Fayette counties.

Wanda Mountain Boys tribute concert

The Wanda Mountain Boys will present a tribute concert, honoring one of their own, at the Nazarene Community Center in Roxanna on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m.
The object of the tribute is Rod Hannis, who died on March 16.
Also performing at the concert will be The Redemptions, The Chosen Ones, Sheron Cadle and Joanne Clark.
