Pancake and sausage dinner Thursday at First Methodist

The United Methodist Men of First United Methodist Church of Vandalia will host its annual pancake and sausage dinner this Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
The meal will be served in Wesley Hall, and customers are asked to enter from the back parking lot of the church, which is located at 127 N. Fourth St.
Free-will donations will be accepted to raise funds for United Methodist Men’s projects, such as buying coats and shoes for needy children in area schools.

First Presbyterian to sponsor trivia night on Friday, March 21

First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia is sponsoring a trivia night on Friday, March 21, at 7 p.m.
Teams of eight to 10 players are now being accepted, with registration being $100 per table.

Proceeds will go to the church building fund.

St. Paul Lutheran barbecue
set for this Sunday at 11 a.m.

The men of St. Paul Lutheran Church will host a barbecue this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will feature homemade barbecue pork, baked potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, apple sauce, desserts and beverages. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under age 6.
The church is located seven miles east and one mile south of Shobonier. Call 349-6291 for information.

Columbus Baptist Church to hold chicken dinner Saturday

Columbus Baptist Church, which is located between Mulberry Grove and Keyesport, will be holding a chicken dinner this Saturday from 4-7 p.m. at Smithboro Community Building.
The meal will cost $7.50 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 3 through 12 and free for children under 3. Proceeds will be used to support the church building fund.

St. Louis Parish in Nokomis to hold annual Lenten fish fry

St. Louis Parish in Nokomis will hold its 18th annual Lenten Fish Fry and Buffet each Friday during Lent, beginning this Friday and continuing through April 18. The meals will be served from 4-7 p.m. at the Parish Center.
The menu includes fried fish, baked fish, pizza, French fries, macaroni and cheese, green beans, baked beans, slaw, bread, drinks and desserts.
The cost is $9 for adults, $4 for children ages 5-11 and free for children 4 and under.

Liberty Christian to host the Bankester Family on April 6

Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown will host the Bankester Family for a worship service and concert on Sunday, April 6.
The band, which plays bluegrass-style music, will perform at the 10 a.m. worship service and at a 6 p.m. concert. Included in the band are Phil and Dorene Bankester, their three daughters and a son-in-law.

The church is located 5 1/2 miles north of Brownstown on College Street.
