Philbrick to be speaker at next Wednesday's Lenten Luncheon

Speaker for next Wednesday's Lenten Luncheon will be Walt Philbrick, a layman from First Baptist Church in Vandalia. He is the father of Matt Philbrick, youth pastor at First Baptist Church.
The luncheon will be held at First United Methodist Church at noon.

Financial Peace course offered at FUMC beginning this week

A nine-week course designed to help individuals and families gain control of their finances begins this week at First United Methodist Church. The class will be held each Wednesday or Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Called Financial Peace University, the course features taped lectures by Dave Ramsey.

Reception planned for Brazles on April 11 at Liberty Christian

Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown will hold a "met and greet" reception for Gabe Brazle on Friday, April 11 at 7 p.m.
Gabe and Sarah have been serving as interns with the Global City Mission Initiative in the Bronx, N.Y., and recently accepted a call to continue serving with the group. Gabe is the grandson of Chuck and Peg Eident of Effingham and Vernon and Judy Brazle of Brownstown.

'An Easter Drama' April 11-12 at Crown Point Church

Crown Point Church of rural Vandalia will present two performances of "An Easter Drama" on Friday and Saturday, April 11-12, at 7 p.m.
The program depicts events in the life of Jesus from his birth to his resurrection. New scenes have been added this year.

Liberty Christian to host the Bankester Family this Sunday

Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown will host the Bankester Family for a worship service and concert this Sunday.
The band, which plays bluegrass-style music, will perform at the 10 a.m. worship service and at a 6 p.m. concert. More information about the concert is available on the church’s website: www.libertychristianchurchbrownstown.org.
The church is located 5 1/2 miles north of Brownstown on College Street.

The Barn opens for season  with Wanda Mountain Boys

The Barn in rural Pana will open its 16th season with a Southern gospel music concert this Saturday with The Wanda Mountain Boys.

Southern gospel concert at Bethalto Church of God

A concert, featuring Heavens Mountain Band, will be held this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bethalto Church of God. The band is from Red Bay, Ala.
The church is located at 800 E. Bethalto Drive in Bethalto. For more information, call 259-0065.

The Barn in Pana to open
for the season this Saturday  

The Barn in rural Pana will open its 16th season with a Southern gospel music concert this Saturday featuring The Wanda Mountain Boys.
The opening act will be Joanne Clark (the operator of The Barn).
No admission is charged, but donations are accepted. For information, call Clark at (217) 562-3526.
The Barn is located three miles east of Pana on Ill. Route 16.
