Homecoming Gospel Choir here Sunday

Bethel Baptist Church in rural Vandalia will host the Homecoming Gospel Choir this Sunday at 6 p.m.
The 80-voice group from Southern Illinois will sing gospel songs and hymns in the style of the Gaither Homecoming videos. The program is titled "A Homecoming Gospel Reunion."
Many of the singers are accompanied by live musicians, who make up the Homecoming Gospel Brass. They include musicians on keyboards, horns, guitars, harmonicas and violins. The singers and musicians are from all parts of Southern Illinois.
Admission is free, but an offering will be taken.
The church is located seven miles northwest of Vandalia on Ill. Route 185.

Softfire to present program on Friday

A husband-and-wife duo known as Softfire will be in concert at First Church of Mulberry Grove this Friday at 7 p.m.
The program is free, but an offering will be taken. The program is sponsored by the Mulberry Grove Ministerial Alliance.

Gospel concert is Aug. 21 at New Bethel
A gospel concert will be held on Sunday, Aug. 21, at New Bethel Baptist Church on County Line Road.
The 7 p.m. concert will feature Jack and Chris Arndt from Walls, Miss. An offering will be taken.
Catholic women to hold deanery meeting

The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women of the Litchfield Deanery will meet on Thursday, Aug. 25, at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Gillespie.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10 a.m., a business meeting and a luncheon.
Carlos Tejeda, associate director for the Office of Marriage & Family Life of the Springfield Diocese, will be the speaker at the luncheon. His topic will be "The Value of Marriage and Family Life."
