Ministry for mothers, children to start

A new ministry for mothers with babies and young children will began on Tuesday at Parkview Free Methodist Church.
Called "22:6 Playgroup," the faith-based group will meet from 6-8 p.m. Its name is derived from Proverbs 22:6, which says: "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

Free movie night at Parkview on Sept. 13

Parkview Free Methodist Church will host a free movie night on  Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m.
The movie is "God's Not Dead."

Veterans' Outreach Center has moved

The Veterans' Outreach Center has been relocated to Northside Christian Church from its previous location at Our Place. The church is located at 1845 W. Jackson St., just east of Sunset Drive.
The center will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. A free lunch will be served on Wednesdays, beginning at noon.
Private personal appointments can be made by calling the Rev. Carl Rhodes (367-1759) or Gene Beckman (283-4480).
The Veterans' Outreach Center is a member of the Veteran Administration's Rural Clergy Program. It focuses primarily on those dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder issues.

Women's Bible study to start on Sept. 11

A new Bible study for women, called "James: Mercy Triumphs," will begin on Thursday, at 7 p.m., at Brownstown First Christian Church. The series is written by Beth Moore and will be taught by Faye Watson.
Topics will include joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility and prayer.

The men of the church meet the same evening at the same time. They are studying I Corinthians, and their teacher is Charlie Watson.
