CEFS honors Rohlfingsmeier

C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation recently showcased its 46th year of accomplishments demonstrating the fact that community action helps people and changes lives.
During the 2011 annual meeting, some special people were recognized for overcoming obstacles in obtaining or maintaining self-sufficiency.
According to C.E.F.S. Chief Executive Officer Paul White, “This past year, our programs and services truly made a real difference in the lives of residents of the community.”
Jennifer Rolfingsmeier was referred to the C.E.F.S. Fayette County Outreach Office in August 2010 by the Department of Human Services.
Rolfingsmeier was told about the Transitional Housing Program and advised on how she could work toward self-sufficiency by setting goals.
As part of the program, she received case management, budget counseling, goal-setting and job search assistance.
Within the first month of moving into the transitional housing apartment, she was working 32 hours a week in the dietary department at Fayette County Hospital, moving from part-time to full-time employment.
Rolfingsmeier and her son live in Vandalia.
The C.E.F.S. Transitional Housing Program facilitates the movement of homeless individuals and families to permanent housing within 24 months.
This temporary housing is combined with supportive services to enable homeless individuals and families to live as independently as possible.
Supportive services that help promote residential stability, increase skill level and/or income and foster greater self-determination are integral to long-term success and will be provided.
C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation can make available scattered site units for occupancy for up to 24 months.
Intensive family development and individual management during residency in transitional housing will be facilitated.  During residency, the primary goal is to help the transitional housing residents on their pursuit of obtaining and retaining long-term housing.
The responsibilities of home ownership and/or renter obligations are fully described, discussed and prepared for those receiving transitional housing.
Funding is provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. C.E.F.S. participates in the South Central Illinois Continuum of Care to facilitate comprehensive services to the homeless population.
C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation has been providing comprehensive social services for more than 46 years for limited-income persons.
C.E.F.S. is a human comprehensive service provider offering direct services, referrals and linkages to address the issues facing low-income residents and providing local community solutions to meet those needs.
