Virgil and Catherine Carson of Brownstown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, at Liberty Christian Church, hosted by their children.
Virgil Junior and the former Catherine Friese were married on Aug. 5, 1960, in Effingham. Their attendants were Everett and Ruby Schaub.
Virgil is the son of the late Virgil and Ethel Carson. Catherine is the daughter of the late Mike and Thelma Friese.
He is a self-employed farmer and she is a homemaker.
They have four children: Dana and her husband Eric Morris of Altamont, Duane and his wife Tammy Carson of Brownstown, Denise and her husband Ryan McElroy of Tower Hill, and Daniel, deceased.
They have seven grandchildren, one stepgrandchild and one great-grandchild.
