? Vandalia Christian Academy, located in the 200 block of South Sixth Street in Vandalia, is holding an open house from 6-7 p.m.

Friday, July 27

? Evans Public Library in Vandalia is holding a Fantastic Friday at 4 p.m. Children up to age 10 are invited to listen to stories and create rainbow transfer art. Registration is required; to register, call the library, 283-2824.
? Bingo is held at Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 home. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and bingo begins at 7 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.
? The American Farm Heritage Museum in Greenville is holding its annual Heritage Days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $7 per person per day, and a three-day admission armband is $10; children ages 12 and under are admitted free. This year's show features J.I Case, Sheppard Diesel and Fairbanks-Morse engines. The event includes train rdies, tractor pulls and kiddie tractor pulls, sawmill and threshing, rock crushing, nail making, blacksmithing, and Hill's Fort and miliary museum displays.

Saturday, July 28

? The annual Carson's Lemonade Raid will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at County Market on Veterans Avenue. Carson LaDage, the son of Vandalia native Todd LaDage and grandson of Bill and Sharon LaDage of Vandalia, holds the annual event to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital., Donations are accepted for a glass of lemonade.
? The American Farm Heritage Museum in Greenville is holding its annual Heritage Days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
? First Pentecostal Church is hosting a barbecue lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at 1 Pentecostal Way, off of Ill. Route 185 at Janett Avenue. The menu includes hamburgers or pork burgers, baked beans, chips, dessert and drink. The cost is $5, with proceeds going to the mission team going to the Phillipines.

Monday, July 30

? "Summer Lunches for Kids" is available every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 11-11:30 a.m., at the Fayette County Health Department, Rogier Park gazebo on Fillmore Street and Kelly Park on West Main Street in Vandalia, the township building in Shobonier and the township garage parking lot in Vera.
? The Vandalia City Council will meet in special session at 7 p.m. for an appropriations hearing and at 7:30 p.m. to act on the appropriations and a proposed ordinance to put on the November ballot a public vote on an increasing the local sales tax by one-half of one percent.

Tuesday, July 31

? "Summer Lunches for Kids" is available from 11-11:30 a.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Lions Park in Ramsey.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Catholic Charities' Ramblin' Rose bus will be at St. Elmo Grade School from 4-6 p.m. to offer free basic school supplies as well as clothing for children in kindergarten through grade 12.

Wednesday, August 1

? The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce meets at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The youth of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia are sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive to help with the emergency shortage of blood. The blood drive is from 2-6 p.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Parish Hall at 726 W. Fillmore St. All donors who give blood from July 30-Aug. 30 will receive a $5 Amazon.com gift card via email as a way of saying thanks for donating blood.

Friday, August 3

? A rummage sale will be held at Mother of Dolors Parish Center, 705 W. St. Clair St. in Vandalia, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday, with eveything half price on Saturday.
? Kinmundy Christian Church is holding a free give from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the church gym, 225 S. Monroe St., Kinmundy. Donations of gently used toys, household items and clothing of all sizes for men, women and children can be dropped off from through Aug. 2. To schedule a drop-off time, contact Nancy Ritter at 245-3319 or Deborah Wolfe at 322-7426.
