Thursday, Sept. 13

? The Association of Christian Truckers, located at the Brownstown exit of Interstate 70 will hold its annual Jamboree for drivers and retired drivers from noon-9:30 p.m. on Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and fom 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. It will include music ministry, fellowship and food.
? Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a meeting of its Homeschool Group from 1-2 p.m. Anyone interested in joining the group should contact Shawna Sprague at the library, 283-2824.
? The Fayette County Cancer Fund will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. A discussion will be held on the Carnival in the Park, which will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, in Rogier Park in Vandalia.

Friday, September 14

? Bingo is held at Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 home. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and bingo begins at 7 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.

Saturday, Sept. 15

? The Fayette County Democrats will hold their annual rally and chicken dinner at the American Legion Home in Vandalia. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the dinner and rally start at 6 p.m.There is no admission charge. A number of local Democratic candidates will speak at the dinner.

Monday, September 17

? The Vandalia Women of the Moose meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? Fayette County Mothers of Preschoolers meets at 6:30 p.m. in the back room of the St. Elmo Public Library. Mothers of children ages newborn to kindergarten-age are invited. Snacks and child care is provided.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
? The Fayette County Democratic Central Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Democratic headquarters on West Orchard Street.

Tuesday, September 18

? The Christian Ladies Breakfast Club meets at 9:30 a.m. at Denny's. For more information, call Faye Watson at 267-8487
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? An American Red Cross blood drive sponsored by the Vandalia Rotary Club will be held fom noon-6 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. Food will be provided to all donors.
? The Vandalia Board of Education meets at 5 p.m.
? Bingo is held at the Vandalia Moose Lodge, starting at 7 p.m.

Thursday, September 20

? Soroptimist International of Vandalia is inviting all local women and young ladies to its program at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse. The guest speaker, Marisa Thomason, will talk about her recent mission trip to El Salvador. All guests are welcome to purchase lunch is they wish. Friday, September 21

? Vandalia Community High School is celebrating homecoming. The homecoming parade is at 2:30 p.m., and this year's king and queen will be crowned at halfime of the varsity football game, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 22

? Brownstown High School is holding its inaugural Alumni Weekend at Brownstown Junior-Senior High School. Activities include self-guided tours of the school, a bake sale and art show from 9-11 a.m., cookout from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., women's alumni basketball game at 1 p.m. and men's alumni basketball game at 3 p.m. Registration forms for the alumni game are available at the junior/senior high office and online at www.bcusd201.com.
? Vandalia's Little Community Garden Harvest Festival is from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Mother of Dolors Parish Center, 705 W. St. Clair St. It will included graden goods and about 30 vendors.
? The 10th annual Model A Ford Day is being held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Fred B. Johnson Park, 200 Spruce St., Nokomis. The first 30 Model A registered will be given a dash plaque.
? The Fayette County Cancer Fund's Carnival in the Park is from 4-8 p.m. at Rogier Park on Fillmore Street in Vandalia. It will include food, games, bounce houses, horse rides, facepainting, balloon creatures, musical entertainment and about 30 vendors.
? The Vandalia Alumni and Friends Foundation's All-School Reunion will be held at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. A social hour with hors d'oeuvres is from 5-6:30- p.m., followed by dinner from 6:30-8 p.m. and the presentation of this year's recipients of the foundation's Distinguished Alumni Award. This year's recipients are Kathy Schultz, John Kaiser and Jody Sperry. The menu for the dinner is  fried chicken, smoked pork loin, twice-baked potato casserole, green beans, carrots, layered salad, rolls and dessert. Tickets are $25 each; reservations are to be sent to the high school.
