✔ A bake sale to benefit Fayette County Relay for Life will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Family Video on Gallatin Street in Vandalia.
✔ The Vandalia Tourism Commission and the Shoal Creek Chapter of ABATE are sponsoring an "Armed Forces Tribute" at the Vandalia Statehouse. The evening begins with a meal provided by the Vandalia Ministerial Alliance; the cost of the meal is $5, and it will include pork chop sandwiches, chips, cole slaw and desserts. Following the meal, local veterans will speak on their experiences, and organizers are hoping to have music performed by Midwest Winds from Scott Air Force Base.

✔ The Fayette County Mobile Food Pantry will be in the parking lot of Pinnacle Foods in St. Elmo. The food distribution will begin at 10 a.m., rain or shine, and food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Those going to the food distribution should take bags, baskets or boxes for the food they receive.
✔ Central Illinois author and paranomal investigator Larry Wilson will be signing copies of his latest book, "Echoes from the Grave," during a meet-and-greet at Old State House Wine Cellar, 402 W. Gallatin St., Vandalia.
Sunday, May 19

✔ The Okaw Saddle Club will hold its first show of the year. Pleasure classes begin at 9 a.m., and speed classes begin at 1 p.m. The club is located northwest of Vandalia, at the southeast corner of the intersection of Lakewood Drive and Thrill Hill Road, off of Ill. Route 185.
✔ A fundraiser dinner for Meals on Wheels (Golden Circle Nutrition Center) will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the center, 616 W. Jackson St., Vandalia. The menu will include ham, fried chicken, beef and noodles, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, gourmet carrots, slaw, dessert and drinks. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for ages 5-12, with children under 5 served free of charge. Call 283-1040 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to make reservations; reservations must be made by May 16.
✔ A benefit to help pay medical and funeral expenses for David Cearlock will be held at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. The benefit will include dinner from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., with the menu including pulled pork from The Hitchin' Post, cole slaw, baked beans and chips. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 3-10. It will also include a silent auction, gun raffle, 50/50 drawing, ticket raffles and a Coach purse raffle. David Cearlock recently died from pancreatic cancer.

✔ The Network Masters chapter of Business Networking International, which includes Vandalia, meets every Tuesday morning in the conference room at 3 Point Ink, 1550 U.S. Route 40 in Greenville. Open marketing begins at 7:45 a.m., and the meeting runs from 8-9:30 a.m. For more information, contact chapter President Greg Tomlinson at 292-2267.
✔ The Vandalia Rotary Club will meet at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
✔ TOPS IL 2020 will meet in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:30 p.m., with the meeting to follow.
