? Chapter 18 of the Road Riders for Jesus Motorcycle Ministry is holding an appreciation cookout in the parking lot of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office for all local law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical personnel from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
? Bingo at the American Legion Home in Vandalia at 7 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.
? Commencement exercises for South Central High School are at 7 p.m.

Saturday, May 18

? Crawford-Hale American Legion Post No. 95 of Vandalia is holding its annual Armed Forces Day Celebration on Saturday and Sunday at the Legion Home, 321 S. Seventh St. It kicks off with a flag-raising ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by a parade of vintage military vehicles down Gallatin Street at 10 a.m. The celebration includes displays of military vehicles, weapons and equipment, inside and outside. The Legion's museum will be open both days, and raffles and other events will take place both days. Lunch and supper will be available on Saturday. The lunch is pulled pork barbecue with sides, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and supper is fried chicken with sides, from 5-7 p.m.
? Restoration In Progress (R.I.P.) will hold its third annual Community Action Team day from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Old State Burial Ground on Edwards Street between Second and Third streets. Those planning to work in the afternoon will receive a free lunch at noon; RSVP with Dorothy Donley, 283-1916 or ddon.1422@sbcglobal.net. Those planning to work should wear old clothes. All volunteers receive a free T-shirt.
? A free class on researching family history will be held at 2 p.m. at the Vandalia Statehouse. Spaces in the class are limited; to reserve a space, RSVP by calling the Statehouse, 283-1161.
? Commencement exercises for Mulberry Grove High School are at 2 p.m.
? Commencement exercises for St. Elmo High School are at 5 p.m.
? Commencement exercises for Vandalia Community High School are at 7 p.m.

? Commencement exercises for Ramsey High School are at 3 p.m.
 
Monday, May 20

? The Vandalia Lions Club meets at Ponderosa Steakhouse. The board meeting is at 5:30 p.m., meal at 6 p.m. and club meeting at 6:30 p.m.
? The Fayette County Democratic Central Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center, 616 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.

Tuesday, May 21

? The Christian Ladies Breakfast Club meets at 9:30 a.m. at Denny's in Vandalia. Attendees may purchase breakfast. For more information, contact Faye Watson, 267-8487.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 3-7 p.m. at Zimmerman's Greenhouse, 1386 E. 1050 Ave., Vandalia.
? The Vandalia Board of Education meets at 5 p.m. at the district's administration center.

Thursday, May 22

? Soroptimist International of Vandalia invites all local women to its program meeting at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse. All guests are welcome to purchase lunch. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP with Janice Hejl, 322-6538 or janice.hejl@gmail.com.

? A Memorial Day dinner to benefit Magassi Cemetery will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Patoka Service Center. The menu includes a choice of ham or turkey with the trimmings, including drinks and homemade pie or cake. The cost is $9 for adults and $3 for children ages 12 and under.
