Friday, July 19

? The Vandalia Statehouse will host a story time on Lewis & Clark from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The story time is part of the "Exploring Southern Illinois Story Time" series. Along with a story, coloring pages will be provided, along with more information on state historic sites.
? Evans Public Library in Vandalia is holding a Fantastic Friday at 4 p.m. Children up to age 10 are invited to listen to stories and make stained-glass art. Registration is required; to register, call the library , 283-2824.

? Bingo at the American Legion Home in Vandalia at 7 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.
? The public is invited to a benefit night of praise and worship for Satsuki Rose Tsubono at 7 p.m. at Centerpoint Church, 1616 Veterans Ave., Vandalia. Satsuki, daughter of Rachel and Yuki Tsubono and the granddaughter of Dr. Connie Heistand, was born with spina bifida and has experienced complications, hospital stays and surgeries. The event will include two bands, a silent auction and a bake sale.
Saturday, July 20

? An Adventure Cruisers cruise night will be held from 5-8 p.m. at Sonic. It will include free give-aways and a 50/50 raffle. There is no registration fee, and all cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome.
? FNB Community Bank is holding a free pool party with popsicles from 6-8 p.m. at Vandalia Swimming Pool.

Sunday, July 21

? The Stein-Stine reunion will be held in the Centennial Building at St. Elmo Community Park. Drinks are provided and those attending are asked to take a dish or two for the 12:30 p.m. potluck.
? Meet the author at the Fayette County Museum at 2 p.m.   301 W.  Main St.,   Vandalia, Joanne Hardy will be talking about her new historical fiction book, "Random Truths," depicting the effects of the oil boom in a Southern Illinois community from the dark days of the depression in 1938 to the early days of World War II. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited.
? The FourGiven Quartet will be performing at Charters Patio, Fourth and Gallatin streets in Vandalia, at 6 p.m. Uncle Grant's BBQ will be serving food before the concert.      

Monday, July 22

? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Vandalia at Rogier Park, Kelley Park, Fayette County Health Department and Family YMCA; in Shobonier at the village hall; and in Vera at the township building.
? The Vandalia Lions Club meets at Ponderosa Steakhouse. The meal is at 6 p.m. and club meeting at 6:30 p.m.
? Teen Nite, for ages 13-19, will be held 8-10 p.m. at Vadnalia Swimming Pool. Admission is $2 per person.

Tuesday, July 23

? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Ramsey at Lions Park.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
