Friday, July 26 ? The Vandalia Statehouse will host a story time on Cahokia Mounds from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The story time is part of the ‘Exploring Southern Illinois Story Time’ series. Along with a story, coloring pages will be provided, along with more information on state historic sites. ? The American Farm Heritage Museum in Greenville will hold its annual Heritage Days this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Friday schedule includes horse plowing at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.; saw mill at 2 p.m.; threshing and bailing from 2-4 p.m.; rock crushing, shingle making and nail machine from 2-4 p.m.; music from 2-8 p.m.; and kids’ tractor pull at 6 p.m. Admission is $7 or $10 for a three-day armband; ages 10 and under are free. ? A food truck will be at Charters Patio from 11-7 p.m. ? Bingo at the American Legion Home in Vandalia at 7 p.m. ? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia. Saturday, July 27 ? Carson’s Lemonade Raid, held to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at County Market on Veterans Avenue in Vandalia. Donations are accepted for glasses of lemonade, with the proceeds going to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. ? The American Farm Heritage Museum Heritage Days continue. The Sunday schedule includes exhibitors’ pull at 9 a.m.; farm stock pull at 10 a.m.; Ladies in House fun at 10 a.m.; saw mill, rick crushing, shingle making and nail machine at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.; threshing and bailing, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; car cruise at 11 a.m.; music from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., kids’ tractor pull at 1 p.m.; skillet toss and wrench toss, 2 p.m. Monday, July 29 ? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Vandalia at Rogier Park, Kelley Park, Fayette County Health Department and Family YMCA; in Shobonier at the village hall; and in Vera at the township building. ? The Vandalia City Council’s cemetery and landfill committee will hold a meeting at 12:30 p.m. at city hall to discuss the closure of local recycling services. Tuesday, July 30 ? The Christian Ladies Breakfast Club meets at 9:30 a.m. at Chuck Wagon Restaurant. It includes devotionals, prayer and fellowship, and breakfast on their own for attendees. The public is invited.
