? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Vandalia at Rogier Park, Kelley Park, Fayette County Health Department and Family YMCA; in Shobonier at the village hall; and in Vera at the township building.
? A food truck will be at Charters Patio from 11-7 p.m.
? Bingo at the American Legion Home in Vandalia at 7 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.
? Twenty and Over Nite will be held at the Vandalia Swimming Pool, from 8-10 p.m. Admission is $2.

Saturday, August 3

? The St. Elmo/Brownstown High School cheerleaders will hold a car wash from 9 a.m.-noon at Brian's Repair on U.S. Route 40 in Brownstown and at Sperry's Service on U.S. Route 40 in St. Elmo.

Sunday, August 4

? Southern Illinois' 80-voice Homecoming Gospel Choir will be in concert at 6 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in rural Vandalia. The concert is free and open to the public.

Monday, August 5

? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Vandalia at Rogier Park, Kelley Park, Fayette County Health Department and Family YMCA; in Shobonier at the village hall; and in Vera at the township building.
? A representative of U.S. Congressman John Shimkus (R-Ill., 15th District) will be at St. Elmo City Hall, 411 N. Main St., from 2:30-4 p.m.
? The Fayette County Health Department's grief support group meets from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the health department office, 416 W. Edwards St., Vandalia.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. at city hall.

Tuesday, August 6

? The Christian Ladies Breakfast Club meets at 9:30 a.m. at Chuck Wagon Restaurant on Janett Avenue. It includes devotionals, prayer, fellowship and breakfast on your own. For more information, contact Faye Watson at 267-8487.
? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Ramsey at Lions Park.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary meets at noon in the hospital conference room.

Wednesday, August 7

? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Vandalia at Rogier Park, Kelley Park, Fayette County Health Department and Family YMCA; in Shobonier at the village hall; and in Vera at the township building.
? The Greater Fayette County Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly meeting at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia. Lunch is followed by a business meeting and a program.
? First United Methodist Church in Vandalia will again hold its Backpack 2 School, from 4-6 p.m. in the church's Family Life Center, at the northwest corner of Fourth and Main streets. All school children accompanied by a parent or guardian will receive a free backpack with coupons and some free give-aways. It will include games, activities, facepainting, free haircuts and refreshments. Scooters and other prizes donated by local businesses. High school students do not need to be accompanied by parents.

? A pizza and awards party for the Evans Public Library's summer reading program will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Saturday, August 10

? Rally for Your Rights, hosted by Support Illinois Separation, will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at the American Legion Home, 321 S. Seventh St., Vandalia. It will include speakers on the process of state separation, and petitions will be available. Attendees will include state Rep. Brad Halbrook.
? The Fillmore Sportsmen Club will hold its annual membership drive and fundraiser at Fillmore Lake. Food – fish fry, barbecued pork and dessert – will be served from 5-8 p.m., and "Van Waylon" will perform. The event includes gun raffles and 50/50 drawing. The cost is $10 per person, with ages 12 and under free.

Sunday, August 11

? First United Methodist Church in Vandalia will hold a concert at 2 p.m. featuring Bob Culbertson, Melody Freeman, Walt Kinney, Dawn Rosborough and Ed Taylor. Free-will donations will be accepted. The church is located at 127 N. Fourth St.
