? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Ramsey at Lions Park. This is the final day.
Friday, August 9
? Evans Public Library will host a pizza and awards party for all of the summer reading participants from 11am – 2pm. Those who wish to attend must present their book log to library staff on or before Thursday to receive their free ticket to the event. Call the library at 283-2824 with any questions.
? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Vandalia at Rogier Park, Kelley Park, Fayette County Health Department and Family YMCA; in Shobonier at the village hall; and in Vera at the township building. This is the final day.
? A food truck will be at Charters Patio from 11-7 p.m.
? Bingo at the American Legion Home in Vandalia at 7 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.
Saturday, August 10
? Rally for Your Rights, hosted by Support Illinois Separation, will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at the American Legion Home, 321 S. Seventh St., Vandalia. It will include speakers on the process of state separation, and petitions will be available. Attendees will include state Rep. Brad Halbrook.
? The Fillmore Sportsmen Club will hold its annual membership drive and fundraiser at Fillmore Lake. Food – fish fry, barbecued pork and dessert – will be served from 5-8 p.m., and "Van Waylon" will perform. The event includes gun raffles and 50/50 drawing. The cost is $10 per person, with ages 12 and under free.
Sunday, August 11
? Immanuel Lutheran Church at Augsburg will hold its third annual Tractor Sunday from 10:15-11:15 a.m. Area residents are invited to drive their tractors to the 10:30 a.m. service. The church is on the St. Peter blacktop, 900E and 1300N.
? First United Methodist Church in Vandalia will hold a concert at 2 p.m. featuring Bob Culbertson, Melody Freeman, Walt Kinney, Dawn Rosborough and Ed Taylor. Free-will donations will be accepted. The church is located at 127 N. Fourth St.
Monday, August 12
? Teen Nite for ages 13-19 will be held from 8-10 p.m. at the Vandalia Swimming Pool. Admission is $2.
? The Vandalia Lions Club meets at Ponderosa Steakhouse. The board meets at 5:30 p.m., the meal is at 6 p.m. and the club meeting is at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, August 13
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The budget and appropriation hearing for Evans Public Library will be held at 7 p.m. at the library. The regular monthly meeting of the Evans Public Library District Board of Trustees will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the library.
? The Fayette County Board meets at 7 p.m. in the large courtroom at the Fayette County Courthouse.
Thursday, August 15
? Soroptimist International of Vandalia invites all local women to its August program meeting at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP with Janice Hejl at janice.hejl@gmail.com or by calling 322-6538.
