? The Vandalia Swimming Pool will hold Moonlight Madness from 6-11:30 p.m. Admission is $6.

Saturday, August 16

? The St. Elmo-Brownstown cheerleaders will hold a car wash from 8 a.m.-noon at Sperry's Service on U.S. Route 40 in St. Elmo.
? The Central Illinois Food Bank will be in the parking lot of Pinnacle Foods in St. Elmo, beginning at 10 a.m. Those going to the food distribution are reminded to take bags or boxes in which to take the food home. Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and there are no income restrictions.
? The Vandalia Eagles Club will host a "Meet the New State Officers," beginning at 10:30 a.m.
? The Golden Years Club in Brownstown will hold an ice cream social on a donation basis to raise funds for a new building. The social will be held from 2-4 p.m. at the club's building at First and Division streets.
Sunday, August 17

? The Okaw Saddle Club, located at Thrill Hill Road and Lakewood Drive, northwest of Vandalia off of Ill. Route 185, will hold an open horse show. Pleasure classes begin at 9 a.m., and speed classes begin at 1 p.m.
Monday, August 18

? The Women of the Moose meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? The Masonic Temperance Lodge #16 will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.
? The VFW Auxiliary meets at 7 p.m. at the VFW Home on West St. Louis Avenue in Vandalia.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
Tuesday, August 19
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2-6 p.m. at the American Legion Community Center in Farina.
? The Vandalia Board of Education meets at 5 p.m. at the district's administration center.
? TOPS IL 2020 will meet in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:30 p.m., with the meeting to follow.
? A Weight Watchers meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Vandalia; weigh-in is at 5 p.m. Visitors are welcome to attend the meeting free of charge.
? The Fayette County Board of Health meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Fayette County Health Department.
? Rainbow Reflections, a grief support group, will meet from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia. Those planning to attend are asked to contact Mary Miller, 292-5366.
? The annual meeting of the Mid-Kaskaskia River Basin Coalition will be held at 7 p.m. in the basement of the Fayette County Farm Bureau on Sunset Drive in Vandalia. A potluck is at 6 p.m., followed by the annual meeting at 7 p.m. Meal and drinks will be furnished, and those attending are asked to provide a covered dish.

Wednesday, August 20

? Bethel Baptist Church will host a Back to School Bash from 6-8 p.m. at Rogier Park on Fillmore Street in Vandalia. It will include games, music, inflatable bounce house and obstacle course. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and snow cones will be served from 6-7:30 p.m. In case of rain, the event will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on Ill. Route 185 northwest of Vandalia.
? The Vandalia Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Eagles Club.
