? The Vandalia Lions Club will host a carnival at the Vandalia Lake campgrounds.
? The Little Red Caboose Project committee meets at 6 p.m. at the National Road Interpretive Center, 106 S. Fifth St., Vandalia. The public, particularly those interested in helping with the project, is invited.
? CenterPointe Church, located at 1616 Veterans Ave. in Vandalia, is holding free Weekly Fit Club sessions at 6 p.m. every Thursday.
? TOPS IL 1872, Ramsey, will meet at the Christian Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is at 6:20 p.m. and the meeting is at 7 p.m.

Friday, July 1

? The Vandalia Lions Club will host a carnival at the Vandalia Lake campgrounds.
? Summer Lunches for Kids is offered from 11-11:30 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Vandalia, Shobonier and Vera, and from 11-11:30 a.m. every Wednesday in Ramsey and from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. every Wednesday in Brownstown.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia. The group meets to: learn that drug abuse is an illness; encourage addicts to seek help; replace despair with hope; improve the family attitude; help individuals regain self-confidence.

Saturday, July 2

? The Vandalia Lions Club will host a carnival and fireworks at the Vandalia Lake campgrounds. The fireworks are at dusk.
? Carlyle Lake will host Fourth of July activities at the Dam West Recreational Area. They include: noon, sand castle contest and beach volleyball registration; 12:30 p.m., water safety games and beach volleyball tournament; 2 p.m., sand castle judging and the start of live bands. Fireworks will be shot off of Point One at dusk.

? The Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary meets at noon in the conference room at the hospital. Members are encouraged to attend.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.

Wednesday, July 6

? Evans Public Library will hold a story time at 10 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to attend.
? Summer Lunches for Kids is offered from 11-11:30 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Vandalia, Shobonier and Vera, and from 11-11:30 a.m. every Wednesday in Ramsey and from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. every Wednesday in Brownstown.
? The Vandalia Moose Lodge is not holding bingo during the summer months. Bingo will resume at 7 p.m. on Sept. 7.

? The Fayette County Fair gets under way at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in Brownstown. The grandstand attraction on the first night are the Junior Miss Fayette County and inaugural Little Mr. Fayette County pageants. The pageants get under way at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, and children age 12 and under are admitted free.

Monday, July 11

? The Fayette County Fair continues. In the grandstand are the Miss Fayette County and Little Miss Fayette County pageants, beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for ages 6-11; children 5 and under are admitted free.

Tuesday, July 12

? Friends and Families of Fayette County Hospital will hold its annual meeting at 4 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital Community Room.
? The Fayette County Fair continues. In the grandstand is a tractor pull at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for ages 6-11; children 5 and under are admitted free. Pit passes are $15.
