? Vandalia Lions Club's Candy Day.
? The Patoka Fall Festival begins with a carnival at 5 p.m., C-Bar Rodeo at 7 p.m. and classic rock music at 8 p.m. This year's festival is being dedicated to the late Jan Belcher, a festival committee member; a dedication ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. by the new bench near the arena.
? Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 will not hold bingo because of the Labor Day weekend.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.

Saturday, September 2

? The Patoka Fall Festival continues with a 5K at 8 a.m., parade at 11 a.m. with grand marshals Micha Schnautz and Steve Gans, carnival, Studio 50 performance at 1 p.m., kids' Power Wheels derby (children to provide their own Power Wheels) and demolition derby.
? Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a Story Saturday at 10 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to listen to stories and make a craft.
? David Davis and the Warrior River Boys will perform during an evening of bluegrass music at 7 p.m. at First Church of God, 3001 Thrill Hill Road, Vandalia. A homemade cake and ice cream social will follow.
? The St. Elmo Labor Day Celebration begins with a 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. at the high school, city-wide garage sales at 8 a.m. and cruise-in on Main Street from 3-7 p.m.

Sunday, September 3

? The St. Elmo Labor Day Celebration continues with the gospel band "Water to Wine" performing at 6 p.m. at St. Elmo Christian Church.

Monday, September 4

? The St. Elmo Labor Day celebration continues with a pancake breakfast from 6-9:30 p.m. at the firehouse, parade at 10:30 p.m., American Legion fish fry and Lions Club cake walk immediately after the parade, parade winners announcement at 12:30 p.m. and Citizen of the Year announcement at 12:45 p.m. Parade lineup begins at 9 a.m. at the high school and parade walkers are to park vehicles at Deken Park.
? Cages in Vandalia is holding its ninth annual Labor Day Bike Show. Registration is from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and judging is at 2 p.m. The entry fee is $15, and proceeds go to Shriners Hospitals for Children. The event includes an attendance drawing, cash and door prizes, silent auction, bench raffle, swap meet, burnout plate and muffler rap.

Tuesday, September 5

? The Fayette County Farm Bureau will hold its annual crop survey and steak dinner. The crop survey begins at 8 a.m., with breakfast served to all participants. The steak dinner will be held at 6 p.m. at the Fayette County Farm Bureau Research Center on Ill. Route 185 south of Brownstown.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary meets at noon in the hospital conference room. Members are encouraged to attend.
? The Vandalia City Council's cemetery and landfill committee meets at 6 p.m. at city hall to discuss recycling.
? The Fayette County Health Department Hopice's grief support group meets from 6-7 p.m. at the health department, 416 W. Edwards St., Vandalia.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.

Wednesday, September 6

? Bingo at the Vandalia Moose Lodge in Vandalia is on a summer break. Bingo will resume on Sept. 13.

Friday, September 8

? Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 will hold bingo at 7 p.m. at the Legion Home; doors open at 5:30 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.
