Miller honored for
50 years in business

Mark Miller Jr., of Miller Funeral Home of Vandalia, was honored last month by the Illinois Funeral Directors Association as a 50-year licensee in the business. Miller received his license in 1964 after graduating from Greenville College and Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago.
Miller apprenticed under his father at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey and in 1981 assumed responsibility for the family's funeral homes in Vandalia, Ramsey and Fillmore. His wife,  Mary, and son, Mark III, are also involved in the business.
Miller has been active in several community organizations.
"The years certainly fly by," said Miller said. "But it has been an honor and privilege to serve families in these communities in what is often the most difficult time in their lives."

Goodwill Industries now taking vehicles

Land of Lincoln Goodwill Industries, which last month opened a store in Vandalia, announced recently that it is now accepting vehicle donations.
Through a partnership with National Charity Services, individuals can donate any vehicle in any condition and receive a tax-deduction. To give a vehicle, donors can access forms online at the Goodwill website (www.llgi.org) or by calling toll free at (866) 233-8586. Goodwill will arrange a tow truck to pick up the vehicle, and towing is free.
Donated vehicles will be sold and the proceeds will be used to support Goodwill Industries.
