Robbi's Restaurant to close on Nov. 20
After 2½ years in business, Robbi Phillips is shutting down the grill at her Vandalia restaurant.
Sunday, Nov. 20, will be the last day for Robbi’s Restaurant, located in the Days Inn motel on U.S. Route 51.
“It wasn’t an easy decision,” she said. “It makes me sad. Most of us have been together for more than 10 years.”
Many of the 14 employees at Robbi’s worked with her at Jay’s Restaurant prior to launching the new restaurant in April 2009, shortly after Jay’s closed.
“We’ve been through a lot – births, deaths, marriages, divorces," she said. "We’ve seen each other’s families grow up.”
She’s grateful to her customers for their support and her employees for their hard work.
Meanwhile, she plans to spend time with her three grandchildren.
“I don’t have any big plans, but I have important plans. I’m looking forward to cooking breakfast for my grandchildren.”
