Payne attends legal seminars in Chicago

Troy G. Payne, one of the attorneys with LeFevre Oldfield Myers Apke & Payne Law Group Ltd. of Vandalia, recently participated in two seminars in Chicago.

The first continuing legal educational seminar was on money matters in divorce. The seminar addressed financial issues involved in divorce cases and how to detect fraud in divorce cases.

The seminar trained participants in detecting fraud and hidden assets in divorce cases through the use of Internet social media forums, e-mails, texts and other means of electronic communication. Also addressed were Social Security and pension issues in divorce cases.

The second seminar was on issues impacting children and custody. Included were sessions on child development, parenting, divorce, custody disputes and educational issues in family and divorce cases.

The seminar's primary goal was to educate participants on the impact of child custody matters on children and their parents. Investigations and involvement with the Department of Children and Family Services in custody cases were discussed. The seminar also addressed the effects of divorce and custody cases on children with development issues.

Payne concentrates his practice in family law (divorce, paternity, adoptions, orders of protection and child custody), criminal law expungements, juvenile law, civil litigation, municipal law, small claims collection and bankruptcy.

He received his undergraduate degree and his juris doctorate degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He began his practice with the firm in 2000.
