Brownstown-Sefton News

Star, the Little White Dove…
…has decorated her cage for Christmas with greenery, red ribbon and her stocking.
The falling snow flakes Monday really seemed to usher in the season. The Brownstown village workers have put up the Christmas decorations, and they light the streets prettily.
Callie, the kitty, and Josie, the 11-year-old “puppy,” seem to already have cabin fever, as Callie delights in aggravating Josie. She has been insisting on lying as close as she can get to Josie, licking one of Josie’s ears and eventually reaching out a paw to touch her, which is the final straw.
Josie chases her, Callie runs behind the couch and then peeks out at Josie. They never really come to blows, as Josie has only three teeth (none of them meeting), and Callie was declawed before she come to the Homestead.
We think Callie gets bored and likes to stir up a little excitement, and Josie doesn’t appreciate it, like kids. A while later, they can be seen napping close together. We really think Callie is fond of Josie; she just can’t resist teasing her.
However, I can imagine how Josie feels with a cat bigger and heavier than she is licking her vulnerable ear and lying a paw on her. I would be a little wary too, if a lion or tiger was that close to me.

An Invitation from the Friends of the Library …
… to stop in at the Brownstown Branch Library and see the display Pam Orr’s nativity collection.
Pam has brought in just a few of her more than 60 pieces of varied nativity scenes collection.
There are also displays of the late Ruby Goldsborough’s poetry and historical memorabilia of Brownstown.
Each month, the library offers a different local resident’s collection. If you have a collection you would like to display, contact LaVonne “Bonnie” Kramer.
They are also on the lookout for local history items. If you have anything you would like to donate or lend the library for the history display, contact the library at 427-3853.
Library hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday-1-5 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
As the library comes to the close of another successful and busy year, the friends of the Brownstown Branch Library voice their appreciation for all who supported the library  through out the year.
Without residents’ support, programs at the library would not be possible, such as the summer reading program for kids, adult book club and the upcoming programs that will be presented after the first of the New Year.
Grant monies have been received, new computers have been ordered and installed, the computer lab has been updated, new book shelves have been added to the children’s section and the magazines have been moved to the new reading room (the old vault).
They have also added two new bookshelves to sections in the reference room.
The audio books have been moved to the hallway, which previously held the magazines.
