Brownstown-Sefton News

The Moon has Waned …
… but the indoor critters seem to have stepped up their” full moon activities,” or maybe they are having pre-mature cabin fever.
When I am really busy, getting caught up in the house and going from room to room, Josie, the little doggie, follows me …from room to room.
Callie, whose greatest enjoyment in life seems to be acting as an impediment in Josie’s progress, follows us and lies down across the doorways so Josie can’t get past. Josie barks until we tell Callie to move.
This goes on all day and I often find myself stepping over both of them in the hallway.
If I’m writing all day, they both hang out in the room with me, but resting quietly.
And, of course, like her mother, Mandy, did, if Josie decides that I’ve been on the computer working too long, and she puts her front feet on my leg and barks at me.
Sometimes, she trots around the corner to me and sits about 2 feet away and barks until I go sit on the couch with her.
If she doesn’t get my attention in a reasonable time, she begins a sound, rather like snorting, and that means that she means business.
Callie has a little different tactic to get our attention. She keeps pestering us and meowing when all she wants is for one of us to go to her bowl and watch her eat.
They both come to the bed to be petted (but not together) before they go to sleep.
“Star,” the little white dove, causes no problems at all. She coos along with the songs, and minds her own business. In turn, neither Callie Kitty nor Josie Doggie ever bother her or pay her any attention.
At first, we wondered if Callie would bother her if we were gone, but many times, Star will be cooing when we come in the door, so evidently nothing threatening or frightening happened.
Star Getting in the Spirit of Christmas
Star seems to be enjoying the Christmas Carols, as she sits and rocks on her perch. She now has her tiny little Christmas tree in place on her cage, and she will probably be hanging her tiny little stocking before long (as soon as I find it).
Plans are Being Made, but …
… news items are a little sparse this week.
The United Methodist of Brownstown not only served a lot of meals at the church during their Christmas potluck meal, but also delivered a lot of meals to shut-ins.
Several parties are being planned, and the reports on those will be coming in soon.
Christmas Vacation …
… for Brownstown schools will begin when students are dismissed at 1:50 p.m. on Dec.21. School resumes on Jan. 3, 2013.
Weather-Related School Closing …
… messages will be sent to phone numbers the parents have provided. Call the office to update phone numbers that have changed. Local radio stations will also announce information.
