Bucky Burro’s First Snow
We were looking forward to seeing how the little burro, Baby Bucky, reacted to his first snow, and we were not disappointed.  Hr ran, jumped, bucked and then ran stiff-legged with his head down between his front legs.
Those were his initial reactions. After that, he went into the barn, where his mother was standing, dry and out of the snow, watching him. Like his predecessor, the late Smoky ( the adorable little donkey), Bucky nor his mother, Madricka, seem to like getting wet, even from a light snow.
Lady, the senior mini-horse, does not seem to mind it that much, but she, too, withdrew to the barn and stayed there.
Buddy, the Bull …
… seems content in the little corral that son Todd and grandson Rodney built for him. (I call it the “OK Corral.”)
Buddy came over from owner and neighbor Scott’s pasture to get acquainted with the Homestead Cow Girls. He eats his hay and takes naps, and does not beller or holler, paw the ground or butt at the fence, so we figure he is content.
He is a handsome guy, black and white with two rather wicked-looking horns, but he seems docile enough when Bill gives him hay.
The “girls” go up to his fence and seem to touch noses with him. Everyone is staying calm, so Buddy will probably be joining them in the pasture before long.
In Answer to Inquiries
Callie, the kitty os still doing fine, eating well, drinking plenty of water and receiving her insulin shots quietly and peacefully.
Josie, the little 15-year-old-doggie, is showing signs of slowing down more and more, except when she wants to eat; then she barks and jumps around. When she knows she is getting to go on a car ride, she perks up and prances, waiting for her leash and blanket.
If she doesn’t think she is going, she follows us around and sits and trembles, looking so pathetic and neglected.  She could write a book on training humans.
