Critter Carrots Back On Schedule
Due to circumstances beyond my control (and I hate that), the critters’ carrot treats schedule (which is whenever baby Buckwheat cries for one) has been uncontrollably off-schedule due to our bouts with the flu, the snow and now, the mud … but mainly, the flu bug.
This last week, things have improved (flu bug reluctantly moved out, the snow melted and my army boots can handle the mud).
Monday (the pick weather day of the week), Josie, the doggie, Callie, the kitty, and I succumbed to the call of the beautiful spring day and ventured out into the sunshine. When little “Buckwheat Burro” saw us, he immediately began to cry. He has learned to watch the back door for us.
Of course, it goes without saying, that they – Bucky, his mom, Madricka, and Lady, the senior mini-horse,  all got their carrot treat. Who can resist little Buckwheat’s pleas?
It is Very Difficult …
… to stay indoors at the computer when spring is in the air … or when the summer days roll around … or when the autumn leaves are turning … or even when the clean, brisk air of winter greets us in the early mornings and our Creator covers the earth and decorates the trees with pure, white, sparkling snow.  No tropical island for me – I like the change of seasons, especially in Illinois or the mountains of Tennessee.
We just can’t figure out how to get all our critters to Tennessee in an economically affordable way. We couldn’t leave any of them behind, not even Betsy, the longhorn cow.
Besides, we love our little Brownstown Homestead … and the people here.
