Brownstown – Sefton

A Rare Privilege and Opportunity…
… is the occasion of sharing a dear friend’s 100th birthday when the friend is as active, alert and in as good physical and mental condition as Lucille is!  Much enjoyed was being a part of Lucille Fisher’s 100th birthday open house on Saturday, April 27, at the Golden Years Club Building.
More than 100 of Lucille’s family and friends gathered to share in her special day on April 27.
Lucille is an amazing example of the “stuff” that I feel our pioneer women were made of – fortitude, endurance, grit and spunk, but with compassion, love and loyalty for those dear to her.
She has a strong sense of right and wrong, and an ever-inquiring mind for knowledge, which is still evident in the number of informative books she still reads. She has a phenomenal and accurate memory.
All that and she still cooks, gardens to a certain extent, is still self-sufficient  and has a sense of humor! She is admired and loved very much … especially by us.
Annual Poppy Day Saturday
Members of Brownstown VFW Post #9770 will be at their posts this Saturday to help us remember our veterans with a “thank you” donation. Wear a poppy to show you appreciate and care.
Sefton Unit HCE Mother’s Day Potluck …
… will be held Thursday at Golden Years Club building, with the meal at at noon. Sefton’s “Mother of the Year” will be chosen.
The lessons will be: “Walking Your Way to Health” by DeeDee Diveley; “Exit Strategies: Are You Ready for the Unexpected?” by Flo Allen; and “Finding Strength in Trying Times” Debbie Swain. The roll call question is “What is your favorite beverage?” Food for thought: “I come from a family where gravy is considered a beverage.”-Erma Bombeck.
