Brownstown Library plans activities, events

-A A +A

Several exciting upcoming events are planned at the Brownstown Branch Library, and even those sho don’t have a library card, come and join in the fun.
On Thursday, April 11 at 6 p.m., the public is invited to a jewelry-making class led by Leah Washburn. Take any material you would like to use and find how to make it into something lovely to wear or gift.
There are big changes coming to the Brownstown Branch Library with a makeover. Therefore, the library will be closed April 22-26 to accomplish all the changes needed to update and upgrade.
The drop bin will be available outside the library for returning material.
An after-school craft afternoon is planned May 6, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for all children of elementary-school age. Adults are welcome to stay and enjoy the library while their child are working on their projects.
On June 1, Brownstown Branch Library is holding a “Free Movie Night” on Main Street, weather permitting. The public is invited to take lawn chairs and blankets and spend the evening under the stars. The movie (to be announced at a later date) will be for all ages.
“Nadine” of the RFD-TV show “Larry’s Country Diner” returns to our area once again for two shows on Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Nadine is the sassy church lady from “LARRY’S COUNTRY DINER” hit TV Show on RFD-TV. As a church-going lady, she has quick advice and a sassy way of getting her point across to middle America.
Joining Nadine this year will be Joey+Rory, also from RFD-TV. Happily married for 10 years, the 2010 Academy of Country Music’s “Top New Vocal Duo” award winners are as real as they come.
Regulars on the Grand Ole Opry, they’ve been criss-crossing the country and globe for last four years playing shows for people in small communities everywhere.
With the debut of RFD-TV’s “The Joey+Rory Show,” they now invite the world into their small-town community.
The event is being held at the American Legion Home, 321 S. Seventh St. in Vandalia.
Tickets will be available soon. Seating is limited, so order early.
The library expects both shows to sell out quickly. Parking will be available in the rear of the building, which is handicapped-accessible.
All ticket sales are final.
