Carson’s Lemonade Stand

Carson’s Lemonade Stand is being held again this year, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. this Saturday at County Market on Veterans Avenue in Vandalia.
Carson LaDage holds the Lemonade Stand fundraiser at various locations to raise funds for research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, with 81 cents of every dollar donated to go directly to research.
Donations are accepted.

Concert at St. Elmo Christian Church

Greg McDougal from “The Work of a Carpenter Ministries” will be in concert at 7 p.m. this Sunday at St. Elmo Christian Church, 112 W. Sixth St.
A love offering will be accepted.

Unity Baptist VBS is Aug. 6-10

Unity Baptist Church will hold its Vacation Bible School, “Maker Fun Factory,” from 6-8:30 p.m. from Sunday, Aug. 6, through Thursday, Aug. 10.
It will include Bible-learning activities, songs, teamwork-building games, treats and crafts they will take home. Each evening will conclude with a Funshop Finale that gets all children involved in living what they have learned.
Children participating in the VBS will join a missions effort to support OUR PLACE Youth Center in Vandalia.

Lincoln Trail 5K Color Run/Walk

The Lincoln Trail 5K Color Run/Walk to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Rogier Park in Vandalia.

Registration to participate in the event is $25, and virtual registration is $25. All participants will receive a T-shirt and medal, and they are not required to complete a 5K.
With virtual registration, participants run or walk the 5K anywhere they desire, and proof of completion is not required. Virtual participants still receive a T-shirt and medal.
In the event, runners and walkers will be doused in bright neon colors. A photo station will be available before and after the race.
