Tompkins records triple-double
Senior Allen Tompkins recorded a triple-double in Mulberry Grove's win against the Mid-America Prepatory School on Friday.
Tompkins had a season-high 24 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists in the 79-38 victory.
MAPS' varsity team only has six players.
The Aces also got a nice game from freshman Devonta Williamson, who scored 17 points and dished out seven assists.

Mansker leads St. Elmo past Patoka
Junior Jake Mansker scored 19 points to lead St. Elmo to a 65-37 rout of Patoka on Friday.
Mansker scored 14 of his points in the second quarter, helping the Eagles to a 35-19 halftime lead. Patoka only trailed 10-8 after the first period.
St. Elmo outscored the Warriors 18-9 in the third quarter to take a commanding 54-27 lead.
Blake Budds led Patoka with 12 points.
St. Elmo sophomore Connor Beasley scored in each quarter to finish with 13 points.

St. Elmo nearly squeaked out a winning streak on Saturday, losing to Dieterich, 56-53.
Sophomore Connor Beasley and junior Jake Mansker again led St. Elmo, scoring 15 and 12 points, respectively.
The Eagles trailed by one, 14-13, after the first quarter, but struggled in the second period, falling behind, 34-28.
The Movin' Maroons would score just 10 points in the third frame, however, allowing St. Elmo to tie the score at 44 going to the final period.
Mansker and junior Blake Pruett each scored six points in the final quarter, but Dieterich was able to make a 3-pointer, which proved to be the difference.

Patoka falls to Cowden-Herrick
The Patoka High School boys basketball team lost to Cowden-Herrick, 67-49, on Tuesday.
Senior Blake Budds led the team in scoring for the second straight game with 19 points. Of those, 15 came in the fourth quarter.
The Warriors scored 27 points in the fourth quarter, but trailed by 30 after the third period, 52-22.
Alex Turner led Cowden-Herrick with 19 points, and Shane Mitchell scored 14 off the bench.

Bombers romped by Neoga
Brownstown surrendered 28 second-quarter points to Neoga last Friday during a 70-43 loss to its National Trail Conference rival.
The Bombers trailed 10-7 after the first period, but five Indians scored in the second period to give Neoga a 38-17 lead. Adam Probst led the way with 11 points in that quarter.
Neoga's Travis Cornell led all scorers with 20 points in the game.
Senior Zach Rigdon (10 points) and sophomore Matt Sefton (nine points) led the Bomber offense.

Sophomore Austin Hunter had a double-double for the Bombers, with 13 points and 11 rebounds, but it was not enough to counteract a combined 37 points from Nick Ferris and Zach Rincker of the Comets.
Senior Zach Rigdon scored 16 points and continues to lead the area with 15.63 points per game. He also recorded five steals in the game.
Fellow senior Bryce Mason led the Bombers with 17 points.

Hovis leads Cowden past Ramsey
Cowden-Herrick's Jalen Hovis scored a game-high 21 points during a 52-38 win against Ramsey on Friday.
The Hornets led 28-17 at halftime and held the Rams to just six third-quarter points in securing the victory. Cowden-Herrick doubled that total for the period.
Ramsey senior Blake Hadley was the only other player to score in double-digits, with 11 points. He made five two-point buckets and a free throw.

Ramsey scored a flurry of baskets in the fourth quarter, but Edinburg came away with a 54-47 victory on Tuesday.
The Wildcats led the Rams 29-17 at halftime and extended that lead to 17 by the end of the third period.
Senior Jordan Johnson then scored 10 of his team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter as the Rams tried to make a comeback.
In total, Ramsey scored 24 fourth-quarter points, but it was too far behind to come away with a win.
The team's leading scorer, senior Blake Hadley, was in foul trouble, finishing the game with four while scoring just five points.

Area seventh-graders set for regional
The Vandalia seventh-grade boys basketball team will face Greenville in the first-round of the regional tournament on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Greenville Junior High School.
The winner will play Nokomis on Monday at 6 p.m.
St. Elmo will play Beecher City at Altamont on Saturday at 11 a.m., and Ramsey will face Altamont at the same site at 12:15 p.m.
The winners of those games will play each other next Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Brownstown will play the winner of Pana Sacred Heart/Morrisonville on Monday at South Fork at 7:15 p.m.
Mulberry Grove hosts East St. Louis Jackson on Saturday at 11 a.m. The winner plays Pocahontas on Monday at 6 p.m.
