Coach Bobby Bowden, who built a football dynasty at Florida State University, told participants at Monday night’s All-South Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet that there’s more to life than winning football games.
“I’ve won national championships,” said Bowden, 82, “but even after those wins, there was a void in my life. The only way to fill that void is through Jesus Christ. God made us that way.”
The annual Home Team Banquet was held Monday night on the Greenville College campus, and was attended by about 425 people.
The banquet, along with a golf scramble in the fall, helps raise support for the ongoing FCA ministry efforts in a multi-county area that includes Fayette County.
FCA was founded in 1954, and now has groups in about 7,500 schools across the nation.
