Birthdays
Denise Corbell
Nearly 40 family members gathered on April 15 at the Holiday Inn Express in Vandalia to celebrate Denise Corbell’s 95th birthday.
Relatives arrived from Florida, Ohio, Indiana, California, Nebraska, Iowa and around Illinois for a weekend of love and laughter to honor “Mom,” “Nan,” “Aunt Dee Dee,” “Nanny Banany” and “Grandma Corbell” with a buffet lunch and birthday cake.
A special treat for Denise was getting to FaceTime her sister, Sallie, who lives in Florida. Fun for family included swimming in the hotel pool and fishing from the lake house dock.
Dorothy Denise Denny was born in Vandalia on April 18, 1922, to Frank Morey and Celeste Sayles Denny. She married Martin Joseph Corbell in 1945.
She has been a resident of Vandalia her whole life.
She currently resides in Parkway Manor in Marion, near her son, Denny. Her daughters, Christi and Carole, bring her for visits to her lake house several times a year.
