Registration for students in all Vandalia schools will beheld from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, and from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Vandalia Junior High School.
• Aug. 1 – 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Aug. 2 – 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Aug. 1 – 6-8 p.m. – Seventh-grade orientation/registration for all seventh-grade students and parents.
Brownstown Community Unit Schools will be holding registration for the 2011-12 school year for both the elementary school and junior-senior high school on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., in the elementary school cafeteria.
All students, including those new to the district and special education students, should register at this time.
Fees for elementary school students in kindergarten through sixth grade are $60.
Junior high and high school fees are $75, plus $15 for the mandatory purchase of a physical education uniform.
There will be $50 driver education fee for students taking drivers education during the school term.
Current physicals and immunization records must be on file in the school office for kindergarten, sixth-grade and high school freshmen students prior to the start of school. Students without a current physical or up to date immunization record will not be allowed to start school on Aug. 18.
Athletes involved in sports activities must also have a current physical prior to the start of practice.
All kindergarten students are required to have the chicken pox vaccination.
School will begin with a teacher workshop day on Wednesday, Aug. 17.
Student attendance will begin on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 8:10 a.m., with dismissal at 10:50 a.m. for elementary school students and 11 a.m. for junior-senior high students.
Students will follow a full-day schedule beginning Friday, Aug. 19. Special education students and vocational students who attend classes at Vandalia will begin their regular schedule on Monday, Aug. 22.
The Brownstown schools will dismiss early Friday, Aug. 19, at 1:50 p.m. for elementary students and 2 p.m. for junior-senior high students.
• Grades K-8 – Thursday, Aug. 4, noon-6 p.m., and Friday, Aug. 5, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
• Grades 9-12 – Monday, Aug. 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
The school office will be closed Friday and Monday from noon-1 p.m.
Book/lab fees and meals have remained the same – $40 book and $10 lab fee for grades K-6, and $45 book and $15 lab fee for grades 7-12.
For students participating in sports, there is a $20 sport fee payable at registration.
Meals: $1.75, grade school; $2, junior high/high school; $1, breakfast for grades K-12.
Kindergarten parents are to take the packet they received in the mail, and emergency phone numbers are required for all students.
For students new to the district, proof of residence is required.
Physicals required for students in pre-K, kindergarten, sixth and ninth, dental exams required for kindergarten, second grade and sixth grade, and vision exams for those entering kindergarten.
Physical education suits are required for grades 7-12; they are available in the office for $15.
The first day of school is Friday, Aug. 19, 8:25 a.m.-3 p.m.
Pre-K screening will be on Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 9-11:30 a.m. Call the office for an appointment.
St. Peter Lutheran/Little Saints
St. Peter Lutheran School registration will be held from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, and from 1-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Parents are requested to provide their children’s medical cards at registration.
