MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL
The Vandalia sixth-grade team placed second in the Vandalia Tournament and are 7-5 on the season.
In the opening game, Vandalia beat South Central, 34-10. Blake Morrison and Blake Barth each had eight points.
In the title game, Vandalia lost to Greenville, 31-26. Trevor Smalls and Morrison had eight points, and Barth and Bryce Dunn had four points.
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL
On Tuesday, the sixth-graders closed the season with a 27-9 loss to St. Anthony. Scoring were: Swain, 3; Ward, 3; Johnson, 2; Warner, 1.
On Monday, the Vandalia fifth-graders beat Greenville, 18-13 in the last game of the season. Scoring were: Kern, 6; Swain, 4; McNary, 2; L. Miller, 2; S. Miller, 2; Rogers, 2.
Ward scored two points for the sixth-graders, but the score was declined to be reported.
Last Thursday, the fifth-graders beat Effingham, 14-13. Scoring were: L. Miller, 4; Smith, 4; Kern, 2; Rogers, 2; S. Miller, 2.
The sixth-graders lost, 33-12. Scoring were: Jackson, 4; McKinney, 4; Fiscus, 2; Wilkerson, 2.
