South Central shuts out Brownstown
The Cougars scored in every inning to defeat Brownstown, 10-0, last Thursday.
Junior Colton Wilkins earned the win by pitching four innings, and at the plate, he was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Junior Colby Bushue paced the offense with a 3-for-3 effort. He, along with junior Cole Armstrong, also had two RBI.
For Brownstown, senior Bryce Mason and freshman Jake Behrends both collected one of the team's two hits.

Stew-Stras tops Cougars in 10 innings
Stew-Stras' Zach Rincker hit a grand slam in the 10th inning to break a 2-2 tie that propelled the Comets to a 7-2 win against South Central last Wednesday.
The Cougars struggled offensively in their first loss of the season, banging out just five hits. Junior Colton Wilkins had the team's only multi-hit game.
Junior Colby Bushue had a solid start for the Cougars, allowing one run on two hits through five innings. He struck out six batters.
Stew-Stras tied the game in the sixth, and scored five runs in the 10th to earn the victory.
Ramsey starts well but falls to Shelbyville
The Ramsey High School softball team scored three runs in the top of the first inning, but Shelbyville would score 14 runs between the second and sixth to win, 14-4.
Shaunna Rainey drove in two runs with a double and scored to give the Lady Rams a 3-0 lead, but Shelbyville scored four times in the second, five times in the fourth and five times in the sixth to secure the win.
Sophomore Taylor Knisley was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, and took the loss in the pitching circle.
Lady Cougars earn first win
South Central's softball team earned its first win last Thursday, defeating Sandoval, 13-3.
Eight players had at least one hit for the Lady Cougars, with sophomore Kellie Crain leading the way with three singles and four RBI.
Sophomore Lexi Schafer also had four RBI, and junior Alexis Phillips had three singles.
Phillips also took the win in the pitcher's circle, with two hits allowed over five innings.

Ramsey tops Odin in EIC action
Sophomore Taylor Knisley drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Ramsey an Egyptian-Illini Conference win against Odin last Friday.
The Lady Rams won, 6-5, for their first victory.
Shaunna Rainey was 2-for-2 with two walks, and scored twice for the Lady Rams.
Knisley struck out 11 batters in a complete-game effort.
Ramsey stole six bases in the game.
Lady Rams lose tight contest to Nokomis
The Lady Rams had three doubles, but could only manufacture one run in a 4-1 loss to Nokomis last Monday.
Mikey Luster's double in the third drove in Ramsey's lone run, but Nokomis strung together several hits to score three runs in the fifth to take back the lead.
Sophomore Taylor Knisley struck out 16 Nokomis batters during the game.
Area players score in All-Star games
Mulberry Grove senior Allen Tompkins scored six points during Mid-Illinois All-Star Classic at Carlinville on March 27.
At the NTC/LIC All-Star game at Cumberland on March 26, Brownstown seniors Morgan Myers and Abby Hill had five and four points, respectively.
