Patoka knocks off Mulberry Grove

MULBERRY GROVE — One night after a dominating win over South Central, Patoka earned another solid victory, beating Mulberry Grove, 57-46, on Tuesday night.
The win pushed Patoka's record to 6-3 on the season, as the Warriors secured two impressive victories in two nights.
Three of the four quarters were close as the Aces and Warriors did battle. But Patoka won the third period, 16-7, to pull in front for good. The Warriors kept their lead around 10 points the rest of the way.
Jered Cain scored 27 points to lead the Warriors. Cain scored 23 points after halftime. Garrett Belcher added 13 points for Patoka. Ty James led the Aces with 21 points, while Damian Latham added 12 points.
Patoka is at Christ Our Rock Lutheran on Friday, while Mulberry Grove hosts Collinsville Christian on Friday.

Eagles fall to Cowden-Herrick
COWDEN — A quick start propelled Cowden-Herrick past St. Elmo/Brownstown, 68-56, on Tuesday night. Cowden-Herrick jumped out to an 18-4 lead and never looked back. The final three quarters were close, but the Eagles could not overcome the early deficit.
Malachi Maxey scored 17 points for SEB (2-2).

Eagles earn big win over Cougars

ST. ELMO — St. Elmo/Brownstown earned an early-season signature win, handling South Central, 67-40, last Tuesday.
South Central was coming off a solid win over Vandalia, but the Cougars could not slow down the Eagles.
St. Elmo shot 47 percent from the field (24-51), while holding the Cougars to 30 percent shooting (13-43). SEB also out-rebounded South Central, 47-37.
Landon Feezel had a monster game for the Eagles. Feezel scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the way for SEB. Malachi Maxey also stood out. Maxey scored 21 points, including four three-pointers. He also had five steals and six rebounds. Kyle Hardimon contributed 13 points, seven boards and four blocked shots, while Dylan Brooks handed out six assists.
Evan Langley scored 12 points for South Central, while Dre Hill added 11 rebounds and seven points.
SEB beats Neoga
The Eagles also earned a 53-40 victory over Neoga last Friday night.
Maxey scored 15 points to lead SEB, while Feezel and Hardimon added 13 points apiece.
The game was close throughout, but the Eagles outscored Neoga, 19-7, in the fourth-quarter to secure the win. The victory pushed SEB to 2-0 in NTC play.

BEECHER CITY — Host Beecher City used a big second half to knock off Ramsey, 50-44, last Tuesday night. After a close first-half, Beecher City outscored the Rams, 33-23, in the second half.

Warriors, Cougars both earn wins

PATOKA — Patoka earned some early-season revenge last Tuesday night with a 72-58 win over Odin.
Odin had just defeated Patoka, 84-73, at the Mulberry Grove Turkey Tournament.
But this one was all Patoka.
The Warriors stormed out to an early lead and never relinquished it the rest of the way.
Garrett Belcher scored 20 points to lead the Warriors, while Dylan Back added 17, Tyler Back and Shane Cain contributed 12 points apiece, and Jered Cain chipped in 10 points.
Patoka raced out to a 20-8 lead in the first quarter, and took a 42-25 into halftime.
The Warriors held a comfortable 53-37 lead at the end of the third period. Odin cut the deficit to 10 at one point in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors pulled back away for good.
Wood scored 23 points for Odin, while Chase Horton added 11 and Dustin Quick had 11.

Patoka beats Clay City
Patoka blew out Clay City, 80-46, on Friday night.
Racing out to a  21-8 lead after one period of play, the Warriors had a 30-point lead by halftime en route to the lopsided win.
The Warriors used a balanced attack, as Jered Cain scored 23 points, Belcher had 18, Dylan Back contributed 17 points and Tyler Back chipped in 16.

Cougars beat Odin
The South Central Cougars earned an impressive 84-74 overtime win over Odin on Friday night.
Evan Langley poured in 32 points for the Cougars, while Brett Harmeier added 15 points and Dre Hill contributed 13.
The first-half was extremely close, as Odin took a 43-40 lead into the locker-room. By the time the third-period ended, the Eagles had extended their lead to six, 59-53.
But South Central used a 16-10 fourth-quarter to tie the game and force overtime.
South Central outscored Odin, 15-5, in the extra session to get the win.
Austin Perkins scored 23 points for Odin before fouling out. Gavein Wood added 22 points for the Eagles, who won the Mulberry Grove Tournament.
