Mr. and Mrs. James “Jim” Wood will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this Friday.
Jim Wood and Nancy Kay Clark were married on March 9, 1962, in Independence, Mo.
Jim was born in Nevada, Mo., but was reared in Lee’s Summit, Mo. Nancy was born and reared in Independence, Mo., where they lived for four years.
They then moved to the Lake of the Ozarks, where Jim began a welding business.
In 1985, they moved to Mesa, Ariz., where Jim worked for Allied Signal, and Nancy worked for CIGNA Healthcare and also did income tax preparation as a side job.
They both retired in 1999 and moved to Vandalia, but Nancy retained her position as a tax preparer in Arizona.
For the past 12 years, they have traveled to Arizona for the winters and tax season.
They are now full-time Vandalians.
They are the parents of James Wood III of Mesa, Ariz., and Wendy and her husband Mike Morgason of Vandalia.
They have eight grandchildren: Jaye Wood, Josh and Lacee Wood, Daylin Ward, Brandon and Christina Ward, Garett Carroll, Stephanie Carroll, Dalan Morgason and Jessie Morgason; and two great-grandchildren: Aiden Wood and Barren Ward.
They plan to celebrate their anniversary this summer, when the family can all get together.
