Rhoades – 50 years

Norman and Mary Ann Rhoades of Ramsey will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Vandalia Days Inn.

Norman Rhoades and the former Mary Ann Vendeveer were married on Aug. 13, 1961, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church near Kinmundy.
She is the daughter of Lucille and the late Ray Vandeveer of Kinmundy. He is the son of the late Hettie and Alvia Rhoades of Ramsey.
They met in Kinmundy in 1957.
Norman enjoyed two careers, – teaching and farming, retiring from the latter in 2003. Mary Ann retired from 32 years of teaching in the Ramsey School District in 2006.
They are the parents of three children: Kevin and his wife Janette Rhoades, Kelly, and Kathy and her husband Paul Taylor.
They have six grandchildren: Afthan Taylor, Meghan Rhoades, Taylor Rhoades, Abby Taylor, Scott Rhoades and Matt Rhoades.
All family and friends are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts.
