Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. David Hill of Vandalia will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house this Sunday.

The open house, hosted by their children, will be held from 2-4 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, located northwest of Vandalia on Ill. Route 185. The couple requests no gifts.
David Hill, son of the late Orville and Goldie Hill, and Esther Murphy, daughter of the late Willie and Mabel Murphy, were married on Oct. 20, 1962, at First Baptist Church in Ramsey.
Their attendants were the late Nadine Murphy Rogers, sister of the bride; Pat Virden O’Dell, a friend; Edmund Hill, brother of the groom; and Mike McCall, a friend.
David is self-employed, and Esther is retired from the Fayette County Health Department.
They are the parents of three children: Roger Hill and his wife Dee, Brian Hill and his wife Bonnie, and Michelle and her husband Indy Hurley, all of Vandalia.
They have five grandchildren: Christine Swyers, Emily Hill, Ashley Hurley, Evan Hurley and Grace Hill. They also have two great-grandchildren.
