Active Shooter Training

Several law enforcement agencies, including the Vandalia Police Department and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, had officers participating in active shooter training on Tuesday and Wednesday last week. Mobile Training Unit 15 from Carbondale provided the training, and ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) provided the equipment used for the Wednesday drills at the former Washington School. Above, Rob Blackerby of the Vandalia Police Department (left), and Klayton Brasel (back) and Josh Wattles of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office participate in a drill on Wednesday.
